ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University students studying physical, social and behavioral, and life sciences presented work at the on April 13 at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University in Romeoville.
The following life sciences students presented:
- Andrew Murphy presented “Conductive Functionalized Polysaccharide Chains for Degradation of Model Pollutants.”
- Kiersten Smith presented “Effects of depleting plasminogen as a potential therapeutic for Alzheimer's disease using an antisense oligonucleotide.”
- Ezra Samson presented “Exon Skipping as a therapeutic approach to SCA3
- Anasemon Botros presented Machado Joseph Disease.”
- Ava Artz presented “Use of antisense oligonucleotides to induce ATXN3 exon skipping as a potential therapeutic SCA3.”
- Rebecca Rozhon presented “Copper Chelation as an Alzheimer's Therapeutic in C. elegans.”

- Jadyn Dominguez presented “Synthesis and Characterization of Antimicrobial Nanoparticles Infused in Biopolymeric Nanocomposite Systems for Antimicrobial Applications.”
Emilia Nykaza, a social and behavioral science student, presented “Serious or Sarcasm? Examining the influence of emojis on perceived message tone in text messaging and face-to-face communication.”
The symposium allowed students to present their research to their peers studying In the Chicago area. ACCA is a consortium of 14 private liberal arts colleges offering educational experiences that help students organize and share their knowledge and discoveries.
