Double Alumnus Larry Tucker Honored with Adam Smith Award

The 24th Annual Adam Smith Award Ceremony was held on October 29 on the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University campus. This year, double alumnus Larry Tucker was honored with the Alumnus of the Year Award presented by Dr. David Livingston, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University President.
This award recognizes an outstanding business alumnus. The award presentation was followed by Tucker offering a few words to students, faculty, and staff on his experiences, career achievements, and professional insights.
Larry Tucker, a member of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University 1984 Class, graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Economics. He continued his educational path with a Master of Arts in English Studies at Chicago State University. Additionally, he obtained a Type 09 Teaching Certificate in 1995 and a Type 75 Administrative Certificate in 1998, both from ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University.
Larry Tucker has dedicated nearly 40 years to Catholic education, including 22 years (1998-2020) as Principal of Marist High School and most recently serving as President of Marist High School for the past 5 years (2020-Present). Beyond his educational achievements, Larry Tucker has been recognized for a number of milestones including:

- 2014 Marist High School Time & Eternity Award
- 2011 East Suburban Catholic Conference Hall of Fame Inductee
- 2010 GLVC Hall of Fame Basketball Inductee
- 2009 ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University Distinguished Alumni Educator Award
- 2008-13 Chicago Archdiocese High School Leadership Team
- 1990 Marist High School Hall of Fame Inductee
- 1988 ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University Hall of Fame Inductee
- 1983 Draft Pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers
In addition to his professional achievements, Tucker is actively engaged with the community at his alma mater. He has served as a member and president of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University Alumni Board and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University, where he has been serving since 2022. His commitment to education and community service continues to be a hallmark of his career.
Dr. Larry Hill, professor and chair of Economics in the College of Business is the founder of Adam Smith Week, a week dedicated to a variety of activities that demonstrate the role of economics and business in our society. It is recognizably named after Adam Smith, the “Father of Economics.”
