Interfaith Holidays Calendar

The Interfaith Calendar has been developed by the Interfaith Cooperation Committee (IFCC), a subcommittee of the Mission and Heritage Council. Consistent with our mission, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University recognizes the need to honor and support the diversity of faith traditions, religious identities, and spiritual commitments within our campus community. Additionally, the Interfaith Calendar furthers ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University’s commitment to our Lasallian charism that prioritizes association and a spirit of fidelity and ecumenical openness in the search for meaning.

The Interfaith Calendar is a reflection of and contribution to ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University as a community that welcomes and appreciates all faith traditions and worldviews. The calendar speaks to the value each member of our university brings to our community, and the ways in which we hope to honor and support their identities and faith commitments within our campus community.

The goals of the Interfaith Calendar include:

  • educate the campus community about spiritual and cultural holidays;
  • foster a sense of belonging for community members who celebrate these holidays;
  • cultivate a spirit of hospitality and inclusivity in our campus community, aligned with the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University Mission and ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University’s designation as a Sanctified Zone “united in diversity.”

The Interfaith Calendar is not an official designation of spiritual and cultural holidays recognized or observed by ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ University; rather, the calendar is meant to be an educational resource for our ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ community. We aim for the calendar to promote knowledge about and respect for religious and cultural diversity in our classrooms and in our campus community more broadly.

This calendar provides a reference point for celebrations, holidays, or spiritual engagements that ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½×îаæÏÂÔØ community members may observe during the academic year. The list provided is not exhaustive, and we recognize that inclusivity requires our ongoing, active commitment to both learning and labor. IFCC welcomes additions and edits by emailing Dr. Elizabeth Sartell (esartell@lewisu.edu). We appreciate your work to educate us as we work to enrich our campus community. Thank you!
